MangaReel — manga, turned into a reel.

If something isn't working, it's usually covered below.

Just import a page

Bring in pages from Photos, Files, or PDF. On-device recognition finds the panels and infers the reading order.

A reel in three minutes

Pan, zoom, pacing, and page turns are all it takes to export a 15–45 second vertical (9:16) teaser.

Your art stays on device

Panel detection, preview, and export all happen on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded.

MangaReel turns finished manga pages into vertical promo videos. It never generates or restyles artwork — the only things applied to your pages are crop, scale, movement, and fades.
Below are the questions we're asked most often. If none of them solve your problem, please get in touch using the contact details at the bottom of this page.

When panel detection goes wrong

Panel detection and reading-order inference run entirely on your device. Depending on how a page is drawn, the app may misread a frame or find the wrong number of panels. Every result can be corrected by hand — try these in order.

1-1. Check that "Format" matches your page

  • On the import screen, set Format to the one that matches your artwork: Right-to-left pages, 4-koma, or Webtoon.
  • The format determines the reading order and the pan direction, so the wrong choice reverses the sequence. You can change it later from the pencil icon (Reel details) in the editor.

1-2. Rebuild the panels

  • Tap the grid icon at the top right of the editor and choose "Detect panels again" to run detection once more.
  • For 4-koma pages with thin or broken frame lines, "Replace with 4 vertical slices" is the reliable option.
  • For borderless spreads, illustration pages, or a single webtoon cut, choose "Whole page as one panel" and add a zoom or pull-back to it.

1-3. Fix it by hand

  • Drag a panel to move it, and use the corner handles to resize it. Select an unwanted panel to delete it.
  • Tap a panel to adjust its motion (zoom in, pull back, or hold still) and its pacing, one panel at a time.
Detection struggles most with hand-drawn frames that break up, panels that overlap each other, and pages where heavy black fills merge into the frame lines. When that happens, the fastest route is "Whole page as one panel" followed by splitting it by hand. Note that rebuilding panels replaces the current layout, motion, and pacing and cannot be undone — the app asks for confirmation first.

When an export fails

Exporting encodes video on your device. If it fails, your project (panel layout, motion, and pacing) is still saved, so clear the cause and tap "Try again".

  • Check free storage. A 45-second 1080p video needs a few hundred MB of headroom. Check Settings → General → iPhone Storage.
  • Don't leave the app while exporting. Switching to another app or leaving the screen locked can interrupt the encode.
  • Check that your page images aren't too large. Very high-resolution scans are slow to process. Resizing to roughly 4000px on the long edge keeps things stable.
  • Restart your iPhone. Exports can fail if another app is holding the video encoder.
  • Turn off Low Power Mode if exporting is unusually slow.

2-1. If "Save to Photos" doesn't work

The first save asks for permission to add to your photo library. If you declined, go to Settings → Apps → MangaReel → Photos and choose "Add Photos Only" or "Full Access". Even without that permission, you can post directly to any social app with "Share".

Free plan vs. Creator Pro

The app is free to download and the core tools are free to use. Panel detection, motion, pacing, preview, and the end card are all available on the free plan.

  • Free plan — up to 3 exports per month at 720p, with a small "Made with MangaReel" note at the end of the video.
  • Creator Prounlimited exports, 1080p, and no end-of-video note. Monthly and annual plans are available, and the annual plan starts with a 1-month free trial.
The free allowance is counted per calendar month and resets to 3 automatically when the month changes. Your remaining exports are shown on the export screen and under "Plan" in Settings. The free trial is not offered to an Apple Account that has already used a trial in the same subscription group — this is Apple's policy, not a bug.

How to restore a purchase

If you switched devices, reinstalled the app, or see the free plan when you should have Creator Pro, restore your purchase.

  • In the app, tap Settings (the gear at the top right of the home screen) → "Restore purchases". The same button also appears at the bottom of the paywall.
  • When it succeeds you'll see "Creator Pro restored."

If you see "No purchases to restore.", check the following.

  • You're signed in with the same Apple Account used for the purchase (Settings → your name → Media & Purchases).
  • Your subscription is still within its paid period (see section 5 to check).
  • You have a working network connection — Airplane Mode and some VPNs can interfere.
MangaReel has no account system. Purchases are managed by your Apple Account, and we never hold that information ourselves. Family Sharing is not supported.

How to cancel (turn off auto-renewal)

Creator Pro is an auto-renewing subscription, so cancelling is done in your App Store account settings. Deleting the app does not cancel it.

5-1. From the app

  • While Creator Pro is active, tap Settings (the gear at the top right of the home screen) → "Manage subscription" to open Apple's management sheet right there.

5-2. From the iPhone Settings app

  • Settings → your name at the top → "Subscriptions" → "MangaReel" → "Cancel Subscription".
To stop auto-renewal you must cancel at least 24 hours before the next renewal date. After cancelling, Creator Pro stays available until the end of the period you've already paid for. Cancelling during the free trial means you're never charged. For refunds, please contact Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com — we don't process the payment, so we can't issue refunds ourselves.

Other questions

6-1. Is my artwork sent anywhere?

No. Panel detection, preview, and export all happen on your iPhone. Your artwork is never uploaded to a server and is never handed to generative AI. See our Privacy Policy for details.

6-2. Will generative AI change my art?

No. There is no step that generates new art, faces, or dialogue, or that restyles your lines. The only things applied to your pages are crop, scale, movement, and fades.

6-3. Does it work on iPad or Mac?

MangaReel is an iPhone-only app. iPad and Mac are not supported.

6-4. Can I add background music?

Adding music inside the app isn't supported. Import the exported MP4 into your social app of choice and add music with that app's own audio library — which is also the safer option for rights.

6-5. I found a bug / I have a feature request

Please write to us using the contact details below. Including your iPhone model, iOS version, and app version (shown in Settings → "About"), plus a screenshot if you have one, helps us track down the cause much faster.
